26 players to return for Day 2 of the RGPS Main Event; Tom Leto leads with 328,800 chips

The sun has set on Day 1B of the RGPS Main Event at the Horseshoe in Council Bluffs, with 13 more players making it through to Day 2, which kicks off at 11 a.m. on Sunday, August 21.  The total number of players to enter the Main Event came to a whopping 144, creating a prize pool of $144,000. First place will receive $40,320 plus a Yeti cooler and a set of Yeti Tumblers.

One player among them, Tom Leto (pictured, left), eclipsed the performance of Day 1A chip leader Russell Licking and now sits atop the leaderboard with 328,800. $200 NLHE 6-max final tablist Andre "Aces" Allen finished the day with a third-place chip stack of 229,900.

RunGood pro Ryan Tepen also advanced, taking with him a middle-of-the-pack stack of 133,700. Other notables to survive Day 1B include local stand-out Kipp Smith (124,000), Brian Topp (100,000), Phil Mader (83,200), Jeff Brin (71,400), and Terry "Papa" Karn (32,400).  However, most of the players moving on to Day 2 have over $100,000 in live earnings, including final table appearances at top-tier tournament series events. There are no easy spots, no easy pots, and the action on Sunday should prove to be one to watch with so many seasoned players in competition.
