It's not how you start, it's how you finish and Byron Abernathy embodied that in the RunGood Tulsa Main Event. Abernathy opened the RG final table near the bottom of the chip counts and hung around long enough to catch a timely double up and move from there into the winner's circle.

The Oklahoma firefighter started Day 2 in the middle of the pack and kept himself climbing in chips as the field narrowed down around him. Abernathy wasn't flashy as he accumulated chips but was consistent enough to never be at risk in the latter stages of play.

Abernathy waited until the opportune moment to strike and did so against Travis Speck. Speck flopped trips but Abernathy turned a full house. All the chips got in on the turn and Abernathy used his pocket threes to propel himself into the chip lead.

That edge held for Abernathy after making a three-way deal with Eric Bishop and Seth Evans. Abernathy busted Bishop and defeated Evans heads up with pocket threes to win the RG title.

Abernathy earns his first career win in a multi-day event and his largest tournament cash.

This tournament marks the conclusion of the RGPS USA in Tulsa. On behalf of RunGood, thank you to all of the Hard Rock tournament staff, ambassadors, and players for a great series. We'll see you next on the RunGood Series in Council Bluffs on February 20th.
