JD Akins came into Day 2 near the top of the chip counts and is playing nearly double the 210,000 he opened play with. Akins put Todd Kennedy to the test and raked in a large pot to hoist himself over 400,000.

Kennedy opened under the gun to 14,000 and Akins called from the small blind. Akins checked the A♠J♣9 flop and Kennedy continued for 22,000. Akins called and checked again on the K turn.

Kennedy bet 25,000 more and Akins responded with an all-in shove for effectively 125,000. It took Kennedy 30 seconds to fold and Akins showed JJ as he took in the pot.

Akins is playing 410,000 and joined over the 400,000 mark by Michael Beaty, who is up to 460,000 as the two of them pull away from the field near the bubble.
