Total RG Main Event Day 1A Entries: 98

The local poker blood is strong in Kansas City and the natives are out in full force so far on Day 1A. Whether they are nationally known or a local legend, the BBQ Captial of the World is growing into a poker hotbed.

From the time he first started playing live tournaments in 2007, a James Mackey sighting is a bad sign for any field. Mackey added the second leg of poker's triple crown to his resume last summer when he won the World Poker Tour Main Event at Choctaw. His win there supplements the WSOP bracelet he won in 2007. Mackey nearly sealed the deal once again a few weeks ago in the SHRPO WPT event but settled for eighth. The "KC Wolfpack" is always hungry for victory and Mackey can put another trophy on the mantle this weekend.

There's a lot to live up to with a name like Cash Carpenter, and indeed, the Kansas City businessman holds up his end of the bargain. Full of personality, Carpenter is popular at all tables where he sits down. Carpenter has tournament results across quite a few series in the Midwest, including a RunGood Main Event final table score in Kansas City last year.
