Sara Schemmel started Day 2 near the bottom of the leaderboard with under 40,000 but she is now playing five times that amount with the worst of all bad beats playing a primary role in her ascent.
A player in early position jammed for 62,000 and Schemmel thought for a minute before called to her opponent at risk. Schemmel's opponent turned over Q♦Q♣ and Schemmel said "you can breathe easy" as she showed Q♥Q♠. Sure enough, the 9♥6♥3♥ flop put a major sweat out.
The 7♠ turn bricked but the 10♥ river gave Schemmel the hand and the elimination. Less than 10 players from the money, the rest of the field can thank a cruel deck for putting the bubble that much closer.
