Kristin Deardorff flopped a set at the perfect time and doubled up through Kemp Ward as a result.

The Midwest is known as a friendly place but that didn't stop Kristin Deardorff from extracting chips from her neighbor, Kemp Ward. Deardorff is over the 300,000 mark after getting full value for a flopped set and is gaining on the chip leaders as a result.

Deardorff opened for 12,000 from the cutoff and received calls from Ward on the button along with Tai Du in the small blind as well as the big blind. The blinds checked the A♠72♠ flop to Deardorff, who continued for 18,000.

Ward raised to 36,000 and after the blinds got out of the way, Deardorff called. The 7 hit the turn and Deardorff slowed down with a check. Ward bet about 40,000 and Deardorff came over the top all-in for roughly 115,000. Ward was less than pleased to call but did so and saw the shape he was in when Deardorff rolled over 2♣2♥.

Ward was drawing close to dead with A8♣ and missed the river to double up Deardorff. Deardorff is now at her Day 2 peak with 305,000 while Ward drops below 200,000 for the first time since Level 13.
