RGPS Kansas City - Shootout and Deepstack Day 2 Redraw

The RunGood Poker Series returns to Kansas City this week for a full schedule of events culminating in the $675 Main Event sporting a $100,000-guaranteed prize pool.  First up on the schedule Tuesday was the $100 shootout, which attracted 120 players for a prize pool of $10,080. Twelve places would be paid, with $3,024 going to first.

In a shootout, the tournament advances in stages. Rather than balancing tables as players are eliminated, each table plays down to a winner, who advances to the next round. In the first round, we began with twelve ten-player tables. The winners of each of those advanced to two six-player tables. The two winners to emerge from that round played heads-up for the championship.

The heads-up stage itself took several hours to complete as each player began with very deep stacks of 150 big blinds. The competition finally ended near on to 5 a.m. Wednesday morning with Shane Raikes (pictured above) taking down the event. Congratulations Shane!
