We caught up with father and son Day 1B players Kevin and Dacoda Salter at the first break to get more of their story. Kevin tells us the two of them started playing together four years ago as a way to spend time together. The Louisiana natives both work long hours in the oil industry; Kevin as a Lease Operator for Exxon/Mobil, Dacoda as an Assistant Driller for Ensco.

Dacoda works on offshore oil rigs on a 21-day on/off rotation. So when he's back on shore, father and son head to the nearest Hold'em tournament to kick back and relax. The two have traveled together on poker junkets to Biloxi and Las Vegas, but their home casino is Choctaw Pines in Alexandria, Louisiana. So, who got who started in poker?

"Well, he won our seats to the Main Event," says Dacoda.

"He got me started about four years ago. He came back [to shore] and said, 'Come on, Dad, let's go.' and it just continued on from there," Kevin tells us.

Kevin's largest cash was in an invitational tournament at Choctaw Pines for $4,000, while Dacoda's was around $2,300 from a nightly tournament at Ceasar's Palace in Las Vegas. Dacoda also finished 15th for $740 in the RGPS Deepstack event in Bossier City last March.

This is Kevin's first time at a RG series, but both father and son are chipping up in today's flight. Kevin has 24,600 while Dacoda is slightly better with 30,500. Good luck to both of you!
