Mike Cordell final tabled the RG Bossier Main Event last month and is in a prime position to go deep again. Cordell started the day with 52,500 and has run pure for all of Day 2.
Cordell doubled up with A♦J♦ against pocket queens in the first level of the day, eliminated a player by winning a A♠K♣ versus 7♣7♠ flip, and most recently, busted Sam Brackstone with a three-outer.
Justin Gardenhire raised to 10,000 under the gun and Cordell called on his direct left. Brackstone put 10,000 in from the button and Jamie Strickland joined in from the big blind. Strickland checked the A♠5♣2♥ flop and Gardenhire bet 10,000. Cordell called and Brackstone raised to 40,000.
Strickland and Gardenhire folded and Cordell shoved for 60,000 more. Brackstone called off with A♦Q♥ and was a favorite to double against Cordell's A♣J♠. The 3♣ turn put chop outs in play and Cordell won the pot outright with a J♥ river.
Cordell is the new chip leader with 400,000 with the field one table from the money.
